The tip of the Askarepuukko's blade is very thin and sharpened to a fine point, making it ideal for detailed work such as decorative engraving and other fine carpentry. The knife's oval handle, made of birch, is shaped to be rounded, allowing for easy maneuverability in the hand. Besides the conventional grip, it can also be used like a pen for greater precision.
Although the blade is short, the handle is designed to fit comfortably in an adult's hand and is treated with linseed oil to ensure a secure grip.
The sheath is made from either light or dark vegetable-tanned bull leather and features a sturdy belt loop.
