This impressive, dark knife features a black high-carbon steel blade, cast bronze fittings, and a deep black birch handle that is first stained and then coated with linseed oil. The black handle is accented with orange decorative stripes. The sheath is crafted from thick black vegetable-tanned leather. Just as the first legendary car, the T-Ford, could be any color as long as it was black, so too does the Tramp embrace its bold, monochromatic design.
The Tramp knife boasts a black 8 cm high-carbon steel blade and cast bronze fittings. The blade is left unpolished after pressing, its black color produced by the heat of the hardening furnace. The blade is finished with a whetstone to refine the edge and engraved with Iisakki Järvenpää's name, while the rest of the blade remains black.
The Tramp is based on the Juhlavuolu knife, featuring a heavy bronze finger guard between the blade and handle, and the same bronze upper guard at the end of the handle. The finger guard not only protects your fingers from slipping onto the blade but also helps to balance the knife.
High-carbon steel requires some care; it must be cleaned and dried after use, and a layer of oil is the best protection against corrosion. We recommend leaving the knife out of the sheath to dry for a day or two after use, allowing the sheath to dry thoroughly as well. Before the knife leaves the factory, we protect the blade with the pine-tar-scented CRC Sisu protective oil. WD-40 and CRC 5-56 also serve the same purpose.
If the knife is used for handling food, we recommend protecting the blade with cooking oil, such as sunflower oil. Cooking oil is not suitable for long-term storage, however, as it will gradually become sticky over time.
