The finger-guarded Whittle Knife is a modified version of the original Whittle Knife, featuring a handle shaped with a finger guard to prevent slipping onto the blade. The 10 cm blade is made of polished carbon steel, known for its sharpness and ease of maintenance. The handle, crafted from oiled curly birch, is adorned with a burnt-in elk design.
Available with either a dark brown or light-colored sheath.
The knife requires occasional care, with the blade needing some oil and sharpening to maintain its longevity. In return, you'll have a faithful tool that won’t wear out after the job is done. True to its name, the Whittle Knife is ideal for woodworking but also serves well as a versatile knife for camping, hunting, hiking, or as a general-use knife for the summer cabin.
The carbon steel blade requires regular maintenance: after each use, the blade should be cleaned, dried, and protected with a light oil coating to prevent corrosion. We recommend leaving the knife out of its sheath for a day or two after use to ensure both the blade and sheath dry properly.
Before the knife leaves the factory, we protect the blades with CRC Sisu protective oil, which has a distinctive tar scent. Alternatives like WD-40 and CRC 5-56 also work well. If you use the knife for food preparation, it's best to coat the blade with food-grade oil, such as sunflower oil. However, food oils are not recommended for long-term storage, as they tend to become sticky over time.
