The polished carbon steel blade is extremely sharp and also easy to sharpen. The handle is crafted from oiled birch burl. The carving knife requires occasional maintenance, including a bit of oil and sharpening for the blade.
This knife model, also known as the "Hookhead", entered production in 1921 and has been a standard design for our utility knives ever since.
Over the decades, several variations of it have existed, such as a model with part of the handle made from birch bark, with only the pommel made from birch. This was also the case for wartime production of the knife, during which the pommel was made from zinc buckets due to rationing, and the sheath was made from lacquered cardboard.
After the wars, brass was reintroduced as its material, while the sheath remained the same, stitched all around but once again made from leather. A few years ago, we restored the sheath to its original traditional design from 100 years ago.
If you're looking for a practical yet beautiful all-purpose knife suitable for various tasks, the Whitte Knife is a great choice.
