We created a model from the Lauri Törni Heritage Guild logo using a hand saw, file, and pliers to make a casting mold for the silver insignias. The insignia is attached to the knife sheath and also set into the silver plate on the end of the Lauri Törni 100th Anniversary Knife. We also made a silver jewelry set from the same insignia. These products are entirely handcrafted in our factory in Kauhava.
The knife model is the Jäger Knife, featuring a 13-cm (5-inch) carbon steel blade and a birch handle. The Lauri Törni 100th Anniversary Knife is limited to a series of one hundred numbered pieces, with each contributing €50 to the Heritage Guild as operational support.
The blade is the same as that of Iso Uppo, which is very popular model for hikers. So despite all the decorations, it is a truly functional tool for trekking, even though most of these knives will probably be kept in collector's cabinets. The knife has protective layer of cooking oil over the blade when delivered, it can be cleaned and if the knife is not used with foods it can be protected with CRC, WD40 or similar oil. Note: If the blade is not protected with any oil and left wet, it will develop black corrosion marks, and even rust can occur.
The commemorative knife is delivered in a black tin box made by us, with a polished brass lid, as per Operation Shining Brass. The lid is engraved with the Heritage Guild's logo.
