Launched in 1979, the minelayer ship Pohjanmaa has visited numerous ports globally. For the design of our commemorative knife we chose the Kontio Knife as a base – in Finnish, seadogs are called "sea bears", so a bear-themed knife was appropriate.
The knife features a 15 cm stainless steel blade, and its brass fittings echo nautical traditions. The handle is painted in fleet gray and marked with Pohjanmaa number 01. The scabbard, crafted from traditional vegetable-tanned leather, is also gray, with the ship’s image pressed using an original tool.
Each knife is presented in a custom-made tin box, painted fleet gray with a removable leather straps, and marked with number 01.
