This fruit knife set has been available in various forms over the years, including sets of four or six knives. The original stands were either wooden or a triangular wooden base with knives arranged between two bent steel arches. The handle materials included birch, teak, or galalite. In particular, the brightly colored galalite handles of the 1950s were highly popular and came in colors such as red, yellow, blue, and green. Each knife in the set could even be a different color.
Currently, we offer a series with teak handles. These handles are from a batch discovered in the factory's cellar from the transition period between the 1950s and 60s. With this find, we have revived a series that had long been discontinued. Due to long storage, there may be slight color variations in the teak, which are expected to even out over time. The handles are finished with linseed oil. We were able to produce 200 sets for sale from this old handle batch.
The set includes four fruit knives and a wooden table stand. The boxes are also from the original old stock found in the cellar, not retro but genuinely old, likely from the 1970s. At that time, fruit was not available year-round in Finland, so when it was, it was celebrated with the appropriate knife set. Even today, there's no need to use them every day, but they still have their place.
The knife set is also excellent for cheese platters. The blades are perfectly sized for cutting hard cheeses and spreading softer delights on crackers. This set is sure to find a use in any home!
NOTE: The fruit knives are not dishwasher safe.
