The Kauhava Horsehead Knife is one of our oldest and most famous knife models, introduced in 1882.
It is also the flagship of our steak knife collection. The Kauhava Steak Knives feature a stainless steel blade, a brass bolster, and a brass horsehead pommel cast in our own factory in Kauhava. The steak knives are similar in appearance and style to our other knives, but they are designed specifically for dining, being slightly smaller with a thinner blade.
The handle is made from approximately 50 layers of domestic birch bark, and the surface is lacquered.
The knives are presented in a stained plywood box, with Iisakki Järvenpää's signature carved into the lid. The box also includes a green felt lining for added protection. You can choose between a set of four or six knives.
The box has a removable knife holder, which can be upgraded. If you initially purchase the four-knife set, you can later add two more knives along with the six-knife holder, sold separately, or you can buy the full six-knife set from the start.
Engraving on the knife blades is included in the price.
Please note: These products are not dishwasher safe.
Additionally, we offer two other steak knife models with different designs and price points: the "Puukkovakka" and the "Black Steak Knives in Wooden Box." All models feature the same blades, but each has a unique handle, aesthetic design, and storage box.
