Ladies' Knife – the name often sparks discussions about why women would have such a small knife.
Apparently, the name dates back to the 1800s when the Double Kauhava Knife was very popular. It featured a large knife with a 10 cm blade, accompanied by a similar but smaller knife with a 6 cm blade. The small knife's size was good for precision work, and thus it often ended up in the care of women.
Today, the Ladies' Knife is also available separately, and the small size makes it very useful for a variety of work: cutting threads, unpicking stitches, or even building miniatures.
The Ladies' Knife is crafted using the same methods and materials as the larger knives. It is made in two styles, the Ball Pommel and the Horsehead. The handles are made from birch bark strips that are secured with a pommel, which in this Ball Pommel model is a rounded shape cast in brass, as the name suggests. The handle is lacquered to a shiny finish.
The sheath is available in either light or black leather, and it has a brass tip like the larger models. The knife can be personalized by engraving the owner’s name on the blade.
